1. What is “The Jousting Life”?

“The Jousting Life” is a website and associated social networking sites (YouTube channel, Facebook page, Twitter account, Google+ account) that is designed to inform the general public about contemporary competitive jousting and provide useful information and networking opportunities for those involved in competitive jousting.

2. How can I help support “The Jousting Life”?

There are several ways you can help support TJL. You can email TJL with information about jousting tournaments, jousting troupes, jousting equipment for sale and other joust related stuff. You can write articles and provide pictures for use on the various TJL sites. You can help provide transportation and lodging in order to allow TJL to travel to and report on jousting tournaments. You can also help cover the costs of the cameras, camcorders and computer equipment needed to create and maintain TJL by donating money through PayPal. (TJL has not applied for non-profit status and therefore your donations are not tax deductible.)

If you buy items from Amazon.com, using the widget on the right side of the page when you go to Amazon.com to purchase anything will help The Jousting Life to earn commissions.

3. How can I submit information about an upcoming jousting tournament?

Email TJL with the full name of the tournament as well as the specific time and place that the tournament is taking place. Include links to any websites or social networking pages(like Facebook) that the tournament has. If the tournament is part of a larger overall event, include the full name of the overall event and any links to websites or social networking pages for the event. Also include any information known about who is hosting the tournament, what jousters will be competing at the event, whether there will be Mounted Skill at Arms, Mounted Melee, Mounted Archery or any other competitions within the tournament and any other useful information. If possible, include contact information(email and/or phone number) where people can get more information about the event.

4. How can I submit information about a jousting troupe?

Email TJL with the full name of the jousting troupe, where it is based(city, state or region, country), an accurate description of the troupe(not a flamboyant sales pitch, a description) stating what kind of jousting the troupe has experience with and any other information you feel is important. Include links to any websites or social networking sites the troupe has. If possible, include contact information(email and/or phone number) where people can get more information about the troupe.

5. How can I submit information about the jousting equipment I make and sell?

Email TJL with the full name of your company, where it is located(city, state or region, country) and contact information(email and/or phone number) where people can get more information about your equipment. Include an accurate description of the type of equipment you create(armour, saddles, weapons, etc...).

6. Is there any charge for listing my tournament/troupe/equipment on TJL?

No. Currently, there is no charge for inclusion on the pages listing jousting tournaments, jousting troupes, jousting equipment for sale, etc... However, donations are always welcome, and in the future I may start charging a small amount to help maintain the site.

7. Will you come to my event?

That depends. Is your event near Austin, TX, USA? Then I will do my best to attend as long as I don't have anything else scheduled. If your event is further away, email TJL and we can always discuss possibilities.

8. Will you write an article about my event?

That depends. Is your event an actual competitive jousting tournament or a non-choreographed jousting demonstration? If so, then I will do my best based on the information that you give me to create a nice article about your event. If your event is a choreographed show, then I am afraid that is too far outside TJL's focus on competitive jousting. I respect those who do stunt shows and choreographed performances. I know how much skill and training that takes, but it is simply not what TJL is about.

9. May I submit an article to be published on “The Jousting Life”?

Yes. I welcome articles that deal with contemporary competitive jousting, including announcements for upcoming tournaments, summaries of recent tournaments, descriptions of your experiences as a jouster and/or ground crew, informative articles about any aspect of competitive jousting(history, horses, training, etc...) or anything else that seems interesting and relates in some way to competitive jousting. If you have something you would like to share, email TJL with your idea and we will try to work things out. I reserve the right to edit any submission for spelling, grammar and typos, and to reject any submission that does not fit the theme of TJL.

10. May I submit pictures to be published on “The Jousting Life”?

Yes. Please email TJL links to any pictures you have that relate to contemporary competitive jousting, especially pictures of recent tournaments. They MUST be pictures that you yourself have taken. Please do not plagiarize anyone else's photos. (If you know of someone whose pictures you think would be suited for TJL, please ask them to contact me themselves.) Be sure to include the names of anyone featured in the photograph(if this was not a public event, make sure you have their permission), where and when the photograph was taken and the name you wish the photograph credited to. If you prefer not to be credited by name or have any other special requests, just include that information in the email.

11. How do I contact "The Jousting Life"?

You can always email TJL by using the link provided.
